Getting Started Adding Products
What To Expect
When you are ready to enter a new product, you will be provided with a data entry screen where you can specify all aspects of your online product presentation. You must complete the entire form before saving the new product. It is important that you have everything together before getting started so that you do not have to quit the process before completing the entry as you will loose completed information.
The section below should help prepare you for the new product entry process by giving you a list of those items that you will need to complete the process. You may wish to print this page (right click and select print) and use it as a worksheet to prepare for the new product entry process.
Decisions, Decisions
Before moving on, you will need to decide how you will be using the SoftProDeveloper service. Answer the following questions.
- Do you want to sell your product online, or just advertise a product. (Sellers pay a fee when a product sells, advertisers pay for advertising space if they sell or not.)
- Will you be providing support. (You may choose to provide email and/or phone support. What email address and phone number will you provide?)
- Can you offer a trial version? A trial version is useful when promoting a product, however, requires some extra work in getting a product ready for sale. Programs are far better suited to Trial ware.
- Will you want to periodically offer promotions. Although you will not have to set them up now, you will need to determine if you would like to use this feature on a product by product basis.
- Would you like to be considered for "Featured Product Status"? Featured products appear on the SoftProDeveloper home page getting top billing. To qualify for Featured Product status, you will need to submit a full working copy of your software or document to SoftProDeveloper.com for us to determine that the product works as advertised and that it is unique and worthwhile for our customers.
A significant number of fields will need to be filled in during product entry. Print and fill in the worksheet below to ready yourself for the data entry process.

If A Trial Is Offered

If You Elect To Sell Your Product Using SoftProDeveloper.com
- Sale page text... There are several fields where you may enter the text that will appear on your products sale page. Most all of these fields are pre-filled in for you or offer a sample text link that will populate the field with usable text. You may tweak the text or use it as is.
- Product Pricing - Do you have a set price per product purchased, or will you offer a price module that reduces the per item price based upon the number of licenses purchased. An example of this would be 1-3 licenses = $50.00 each, 4-10 licenses = $45.00 each 11+ licenses = $40.00 each. Spend time now figuring out how you will price your product.
If You Will Offer Support

- Support page text... There are a couple fields where you may enter the text that will appear on your products support page. Most all of these fields are pre-filled in for you or offer a sample text link that will populate the field with usable text. You may tweak the text or use it as is.
Images & Attachments
This is the section where you will get the most "bang" from doing the legwork in advance of setting up your product. SoftProDeveloper.com allows you to include downloadable images, manuals and other information. Images or product snapshots may be uploaded in pdf, gif, jpg, and png formats. Manuals, License Agreement, and product feature sheets must be uploaded in Adobe pdf format. You may also upload a graphic or logo for your company or product. This graphic must be sized exactly 128 pixels by 128 pixels and saved in gif, png, or jpg file format.
Images and attachments are not required and may be added to your product submission later. If a product image is not uploaded, a default image will be applied for you and is based upon the type of product that you are adding. The following checklist will give you an idea what attachments are available.
- Product Manual (pdf)
- Product License Agreement (pdf)
- Product "Cut-Sheet" or Printable Feature Sheet (pdf)
- Product Image (128px x 128px, gif, png, jpg file)
- Up to 10 product screen shots or document samples. If you will be uploading a sample word document of crystal report, it is advised that these uploads be saved as pdf files and contain a SAMPLE or DEMO watermark. Screen shots or graphics may be saved as pdf, gif, jpg, or png formats.
